Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Sapienbase uses cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, SDKs) on our websites and apps. For information on how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (login, language, consent) over time. We also use:
- Local storage / session storage: browser-side key/value storage used for your session, reading position and interface preferences. It is not sent with every request, but it is treated the same as cookies under this Policy.
- Pixels and tags: small scripts or transparent images that report an event (page view, checkout started, purchase) to an advertising or analytics provider.
- Server-side event APIs: where consent is given, purchase events may be sent from our server to an advertising provider instead of the browser. This is covered in Section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary. Required to run the Service (authentication, session, security, load balancing, checkout, consent record). Cannot be disabled.
- Functional. Remember preferences (language, interface mode, reading position, dismissed banners). Set only after consent where required.
- Analytics. Aggregate usage statistics to improve the Service. Set only after consent where required.
- Marketing / advertising. Measure ad campaigns and personalize offers (including Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API). Set only with your consent.
3. Cookies and storage we set
The table below lists the cookies and storage keys in use at the effective date of this Policy. Names may vary slightly as providers update their libraries; the purpose, category and legal basis stay as described.
| Name / family | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token | Sapienbase (Supabase auth) | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and authorises access to your purchased library | Session + refresh, up to 30 days | Contract performance |
sb-consent | Sapienbase | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie choice and the policy version, so we can honor it and prove consent | 12 months | Legal obligation |
sb-lang | Sapienbase | Functional | Remembers your language (EN/IT) | 12 months | Consent / legitimate interest |
sb-ui-* | Sapienbase | Functional | Interface preferences: display mode, dismissed banners, tour completion | 12 months | Consent |
sb-reader-* | Sapienbase (local storage) | Functional | Saves your reading position, notes and quiz progress inside guides | Until you clear browser storage | Contract performance |
sb-checkout-* | Sapienbase | Strictly necessary | Links your checkout attempt to your order so payments, retries and upsells resolve correctly | Up to 7 days | Contract performance |
__stripe_mid | Stripe | Strictly necessary | Fraud prevention and payment-form integrity at checkout | 12 months | Legitimate interest (fraud prevention) |
__stripe_sid | Stripe | Strictly necessary | Fraud prevention for the current checkout session | 30 minutes | Legitimate interest (fraud prevention) |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Bot management and abuse protection | 30 minutes | Legitimate interest (security) |
_fbp, _fbc, fr | Meta Platforms | Marketing | Measures ad-driven visits and conversions; attributes purchases to campaigns | Up to 3 months | Consent |
We do not currently run third-party analytics suites such as Google Analytics. If we add one, this table and the consent banner will be updated before it is activated.
4. Managing your preferences
You can accept, reject or change your cookie choices at any time via the cookie banner or your account settings. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working — including sign-in and checkout.
We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out of advertising cookies. For advertising cookies, you can also opt out via industry tools such as youronlinechoices.com or optout.aboutads.info, and in your Meta ad preferences.
5. Retention
Session cookies expire when you close the browser. Persistent cookies expire after the period stated in the table above (typically 30 minutes to 13 months) or when you withdraw consent, whichever comes first. Withdrawing consent stops future setting of the relevant cookies; cookies already on your device can be deleted from your browser at any time.
6. Changes to this Policy
When we add, remove or change a cookie in a way that affects you, we update this Policy and, for non-essential cookies, ask for consent again. The version and effective date at the top of the page identify the current text.
